Explicit or Implicit Grammar Instruction in ESL classroom

Impicit or Explicit instruction: Which is better for language learning? Shall we simply present the TL to students and hope for their acquiring the information unconsciously? Or shall we make explanations overtly?
There are adherents for both approaches and all of them have their reasons grounded in teaching practice. Be that as it may, there seem to be certain limitations to the effectiveness of both. In the session we will speak about theories in ESL teaching endorsing either explicit or implicit teaching, the latest findings in the field and try to define the conditions under which the approaches might be applied effectively.
